I know homesteading has become a trendy thing to be interested in and many websites and influencers are trying to capitalize on that.

Ideal Homestead isn't about cashing in on a trendy thing. This site and community was created because we love the culture and ideas behind homesteading as well as putting in the real work to be more productive and self sufficient.

While farming commercially in West Texas and trying to build a homestead lifestyle as well, I have encountered plenty of opportunities and reasons to abandon the concept. Trying to produce and create on your own land can be rewarding, but it can often be demoralizing. Disasters, trouble with finances, the time commitment involved, and other struggles are bound to arise.

This was a big part of why Ideal Homestead was started. It came about from the goal of helping other homestead types in a similar position as I was to stay with it and thrive.
